The series that came out of the BFA — film camera open in a pitch-black room, a flashlight as the brush. The images that came back weren't what was in the room. They were entities; the energy I was carrying, refracted into something you could see.
Dawson A.

Titled paintings from the years I signed work as Dawson A. — letter to Elijah, lioness, the conehead clown, the wax, the self-portrait. Studies that came out of a flow state — paint moving through me into the canvas, the subject deciding what it wanted to be.
Working-Class Youth

A series about being a kid in the 80s and 90s Bay Area before tech ate it — door-to-door sales as a survival skill, melting-pot neighborhoods, rents that were already starting to climb. The youth that built the tools that built the people who built the place that no longer is.
